The IVVDC has become an important meeting place for regulatory authorities, pharmaceutical companies and the scientific community. An exciting scientific program has been prepared covering the various areas of vaccinology and diagnostics. Many internationally known speakers are invited to address a number of "hot" topics. Contributions from conference delegates for poster display are most welcome. Abstracts must be submitted for both invited oral and poster presentations. Abstracts will be published in the abstract book. Social events will be an integral part of the conference.
Abstract deadline is 15 February 2006 Last date low registration fee is 15 April 2006 For more information, visit the conference website www.ivvdc.org We look forward to seeing you in Oslo!
The aim of the Conference is to bring together scientists studying membrane-bound redox enzymes and processes in different tissues and organs of both animals and plants. As in all former meetings, special emphasis will also be laid on how applicable is basic knowledge of membrane-bound redox processes in stress and disease. There will be organized 7 sessions with the following - at this moment only preliminary - title and content:
1. Membrane-bound proteins: in this session we would like to concentrate on the proteins and their functions which belong to the newly discovered "Ascorbate-reducible two-heme containing cytochromes b" protein family.
2. Membrane-bound heme-containing proteins: in this session we would like to concentrate on b-type cytochrome-containing proteins other than those in the previous session (e.g. NOX proteins, Fe-chelate reductases, hydrogenases, etc.) as well as membrane-bound c-type cytochromes.
3. Plasma membrane redox proteins: in this session we would like to deal with any "classical" plasma membrane-bound redox proteins (e.g. peroxidases, nitrate reductases, quinone oxido-reductases, disulfide isomerases, etc.).
4. Heavy metals and membrane redox proteins: in this session we would like to have contributions dealing with membrane-bound and heavy metal-containing proteins (e.g. Zn-, Cu-, Fe-containing proteins except heme-containing proteins) as well as lectures and posters dealing with the problems of heavy metal acquisition.
5. Role of quinones in membrane redox processes: in this session we would like to deal with membrane-bound activities of proteins in connection with quinones and lipophilic electron carriers (e.g. Vitamins Kn, ubiquinone, Q10, etc.).
6. Stress and disease: because of the diversity of problems, we would like to have contributions dealing with "practical problems" in connection with membrane redox processes (e.g. Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, cancer, atherosclerosis, phytoremediation, disorders in heavy metal acquisition, etc.) in this session.
Session titles and contents will be finalized by the end of December, 2005, however, only minor changes can be expected.
Poster contributions in all topics will be on show throughout the conference.
